Remark Regarding LSG Is Almost Complete

In the IPL 2024 season, KL Rahul, who bats first, has not been able to ignite the Lucknow Super Giants.

Lucknow Super Giants skipper KL Rahul said on Tuesday that losing a lot of wickets in the powerplay was the “big reason why we are in this position” in the present 17th season of the cash-rich tournament. Ishant Sharma’s superb bowling spell and an unbelievable death overs showing by Delhi Capitals (DC) bowlers blunted a spectacular fightback by Nicholas Pooran and Arshad Khan, propelling the Capitals to a 19-run victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday.

DC has risen to fifth place, finishing the season with seven wins, seven defeats, and 14 points, while LSG has slid to seventh with six wins, seven losses, and 12 points. The postseason possibilities of both teams are determined by the remaining games of other franchises.

The right-handed batter said that the wicket remained the same throughout the 40 overs.

“I believe the wicket remained the same during the 40-overs. When we got JFM out in the first over, we should have taken advantage, but they – Hope and Porel – showed a lot of intent.

We performed well in the tail end, and 200 was a reasonable total; we should have chased it down. This has been a problem all season – we keep losing wickets in the powerplay, we never get a good start to get the likes of Stoinis and Pooran in, and that is the main reason we are in this situation,” Rahul remarked in the post-match presentation.

In the match, LSG put Delhi Capitals to bat first and they scored 208/4 in 20 overs, with magnificent fifties from Stubbs (57* in 25 balls, with three fours and four sixes) and Abhishek Porel (58* in 33 balls, with five fours and four sixes).

The best bowler for LSG was Naveen-ul-Haq (2/51).

LSG was cut to 44/4 in the run-chase. But half-centuries from Arshad Khan (58* in 33 balls, with three fours and five sixes) and Nicholas Pooran (61 in 27 balls, with six fours and four sixes) kept LSG in the game till the very end. Nevertheless, LSG was reduced to 189/9 in their 20 overs by DC’s excellent death overs performance.
DC’s preferred bowler was Ishant Sharma (3/34).
