Even though Dhoni hit bowler Yash Dayal for a massive six, Dayal remained composed to help RCB win. The five-time reigning champions needed 17 runs in the final over to qualify for the playoffs on higher net run rate.

Ambati Rayudu, a former batter for India, believes that MS Dhoni has not yet played his final IPL match and believes that the BCCI should keep the controversial impact player rule in place since it may enable the venerable veteran to continue playing in the highest level of cricket. In a highly anticipated southern derby in Bengaluru on Saturday, Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings were eliminated from this season of the Indian Premier League after losing by 27 runs to Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Even though Dhoni hit bowler Yash Dayal for a massive six, Dayal remained composed to help RCB win. The five-time reigning champions needed 17 runs in the final over to qualify for the playoffs on higher net run rate.

Rayudu remarked later on Star Sports Cricket Live, “I don’t think this is his final game. It seems unlikely that he would like to conclude on this note. Shaking hands with the opposition’s reserves and support personnel, Dhoni discreetly disappeared into the changing room while the RCB players went into wild celebrations.

It also provides him with the chance to come in those final few overs and really make an impression because of the impact player role.

We still expect MS Dhoni to participate, thus BCCI had best not eliminate the impact player position. BCCI is now in charge of this. Does MS Dhoni’s playing appeal to us? RCB maintained their comeback with a sixth straight victory, a tremendous accomplishment that saw them climb from the bottom of the league to qualify for the playoffs, while Dhoni and Co. closed the match in pain.

“He is The Thala of the Chennai Super Kings, first and foremost, as a leader. This indicates to me that winning is the only goal here, and nothing else. He’s frantically applying all of his cricket expertise and cerebral faculties.

MS Dhoni has always been the source of power, of course. At this point in the innings, he has always hit balls. You can see how players are able to hit it up front. It is really difficult to smash balls at the back, though.” Dhoni proved he still had the ability to hit the ball a great distance by scoring 25 off 13 balls with the help of three fours and a massive six.
