Beginning on November 17, the Indian team will participate in a three-day intrasquad game at the WACA Ground. India had faced Australia A in practice matches during their 2020–21 Down Under tour.
Prior to the highly anticipated Border Gavaskar Trophy later this year, India ‘A’ will take on Australia ‘A’ in two first-class matches, the Cricket Association of India said on Tuesday. According to Cricket Australia, the two matches will take place from October 31 to November 3 at the Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay and from November 7 to November 10 at the MCG. Fringe players on both teams will have a chance to make a case for a Test spot during the warm-up matches.
“To have that (the series) running simultaneously with the women’s ODIs and preceded by two significant Australia A v India A matches will be terrific for our fans,” Roach stated.
The Indian women’s cricket team will be touring Australia around the same time. The second ODI between the two teams on December 8 is scheduled to coincide with the second Test.
Australia hasn’t won the Border Gavaskar Trophy since 2017, having lost all four previous series 2-1, including two at home in 2018-19 and 2020-21.
