In the first round, the American duo of Vinson Chiu and Jennie Gai were defeated by the Indian mixed doubles team of B Sumeeth Reddy and Sikki Reddy in a fierce match that ended 18-21, 21-16, 21-17.
A formidable challenge, however, lies ahead for the Indian duo as they advance to face the victor of the Chinese top-seeded pairing of Si Wei Zheng and Ya Qiong Huang and the Indonesian team of Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto and Lisa Ayu Kusumawati.
