India will be seeking to end a 13-year trophy drought, while South Africa will be hoping to win their first ICC competition.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup final between team India and South Africa is something that the entire nation is anticipating on Saturday. While the Proteas aim to win their first-ever ICC competition, India will be trying to break their trophy drought of thirteen years. While India will be trying to put the past 10 years behind them and possibly win their first trophy, South Africa is making its first-ever appearance in an ICC tournament final. The South African squad has been called “chokers” by many for their past failure to advance to the tournament’s finals, while Indian supporters have also heard this term in relation to their side’s 2023 ODI World Cup defeat to Australia.

World Cup-winning all-rounder Kirti Azad (1983) revealed what India’s strategy should be in the championship match in an exclusive interview with IANS.

“Since South Africa is making their debut in an ICC tournament final, discussing them is quite challenging. They were even dubbed “chokers” as they were known to choke in the semifinals, so it’s hard to forecast how they’ll fare in the championship game. To be sure, they will give it everything they have to win, but India must exercise caution to avoid becoming overconfident and choking the match. Our goal is to achieve a high score,” he stated.

“We observed the pitches from the last game in the semifinals, where the ball stayed low and did not bounce much. Giving them a decent target and using caution will be necessary. “We need to make South Africa choke,” Azad said to IANS.

From the opening game, the Indian bowling attack has been outstanding; the tournament’s headliners, Axar Patel and Jasprit Bumrah, have led the way. In the semi-finals, they stopped the English batsman from attempting to reach the 171-run goal and bowled their opponents out for 103, showcasing their outstanding achievements. Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav both claimed three wickets, while Bumrah claimed two wickets.

The Indian captain, Rohit Sharma, is another key member of the team. He is now the third-highest run scorer in this edition of the event, having scored 248 runs for his side.

“I was confident that the Indian squad will play well and win the World Cup given our current makeup. Every player has given an outstanding effort, but bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel have been particularly strong. India leads the world in its bowling attack. The 1983 World Cup victor said, “Rohit’s batting is our team’s finest asset.

Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, is yet another important player on the squad. With 248 runs scored for his team, he presently ranks third in this edition of the competition’s run scorers.

Given our existing composition, I was optimistic that the Indian team will perform well and win the World Cup. Though bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel have been very strong, every player has made an incredible effort. In terms of bowling assault, India is global leaders. “Rohit’s batting is our team’s finest asset,” declared the 1983 World Cup winner.
