The departure of the Indian team from Barbados was postponed even further. On Thursday morning, Rohit Sharma’s men should arrive in Delhi.

Barbados’ weather has caused a few-day delay in the Indian cricket team’s journey home. After defeating South Africa in the final on Saturday, Rohit Sharma’s team was scheduled to depart for India on Sunday, but they were compelled to stay in the island nation in order to win the T20 World Cup 2024. Barbados faced a hurricane threat, thus the airport had to be closed and all flights had to be canceled. There were several reports on Wednesday morning (India time) indicating that the Indian team’s departure from Barbados was delayed even more. It is expected that the players would arrive in Delhi early on Thursday.

The players, who had been stranded in Barbados for three days due to the hurricane, were scheduled to board a Wednesday evening (local time) flight to Delhi, according to BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla’s announcement on Tuesday.

“Thank God, team India is returning to Delhi this evening after a flight from Barbados. will arrive tomorrow night. Due to a strong hurricane, they were stranded there for three days. Every preparation has been done by @BCCI to ensure the players’ safe return home. On Wednesday, BCCI secretary @JayShah wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that “he himself is monitoring the whole situation.”

But there were other problems that made the team’s departure even later. According to India Today, the delegation from India was supposed to depart the island nation on Wednesday morning (India time) and arrive in New Delhi on Thursday morning (India time) as per the revised timetable.

The trophy is ultimately returning home, according to a social media update from the BCCI.

While there was minor damage caused by Hurricane Beryl in Barbados, residents were relieved that it missed the island’s center. According to the most recent reports, it is moving slowly in the direction of Jamaica while simultaneously warning Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

“Beryl is expected to bring life-threatening winds and storm surge to Jamaica on Wednesday and the Cayman Islands Wednesday night and Thursday,” according to the NHC.
