Caribbean hitter Kieron Pollard went on a spree, hitting five straight sixes in the Trent Rockets run chase, leaving Rashid Khan completely bewildered.
Kieron Pollard, the former West Indies captain, may have retired from playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) after becoming their batting coach, but he is still capable of haunting the finest bowlers. On August 10, he became Afghanistan’s premier spinner Rashid Khan’s nightmare, hitting him for five straight sixes in a match between the Southern Brave and the Trent Rockets.
Pollard showed no mercy to his Michigan New York teammate Rashid, bringing the Rose Bowl crowd in Southampton to its feet. In T20s and the Hundred format, the seasoned batting all-rounder became the first to hit successive sixes off every ball in an over. In 2021, he did it against Sri Lanka’s Akila Dananjaya.
Southern Brave were struggling in their 127-run chase after losing six wickets for 78 runs. They required 49 runs over the last 20 balls. Pollard was struggling, having scored only six runs off 14 balls. Skipper Lewis Gregory reintroduced Rashid to the attack. He had allowed 10 runs in his first 15 deliveries.
