Bangladesh Makes Test History With A 10-Wicket Win, Embarrassing Pakistan At Home
The Bangladesh cricket team provided much-needed solace at home with a historic Test victory. As the country attempts to emerge from political upheaval, its men’s cricket team sent a wave of joy back home by earning its first Test victory over Pakistan. Bangladesh and Pakistan have played a total of 13 matches in the longest format of the game, with the Bangla Tigers losing 12 and drawing one. The first Test of the two-match series in Rawalpindi, however, yielded a first for Bangladesh, as they won by ten wickets.
Bangladesh’s triumph was also the first occasion in Test cricket history when a visiting team defeated Pakistan by ten wickets at home.
Pakistan and Bangladesh first met in a Test match in 2001 as part of the Asian Test Championship, which also featured Sri Lanka. The Lankans won the tri-series. Pakistan and Bangladesh played their first bilateral series in 2002, with the former prevailing 2-0.
On August 25, 2024, Bangladesh won their first match versus Pakistan in the longest format of the game.
