Andre Agassi, the former World No. 1 tennis player and eight-time Grand Slam winner, is scheduled to visit India in January of next year.
The PWR DUPR Indian Tour and League, a significant event that aims to popularize pickleball in the nation, will be inaugurated in January of next year by eight-time Grand Slam champion and former World No. 1 tennis player Andre Agassi. The PWR DUPR Indian Tour and League comes after Pickleball World Rankings (PWR) recently unveiled a new rankings system and started the PWR World Tour and PWR World Series.
Agassi stated, “I’m excited to visit India and bring the excitement of pickleball to its fans,” in a video message to his Indian supporters. I hope the PWR DUPR Indian Tour & League is a huge success in the nation and I look forward to it.” In addition to winning two US Open championships, a gold medal in men’s singles at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Agassi has also won four Australian Open titles, one each at the French Open and Wimbledon.
The PWR DUPR India Masters, which includes the PWR 700 event “Battle of the League: Stage 1,” will take place in New Delhi from October 24 to 27 this year, ahead of the main tournament in January.A unique team-based competition for amateur players, the Battle of the Leagues is organized by the Global Pickleball Federation, the Indian Pickleball Association, the Asian Pickleball Association, Pickleball United, FansPlay, and Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating (DUPR).
The Battle of the Leagues winning teams will get a slot in the DUPR Nationals in the USA, with PWR covering travel and lodging costs. A total of $50,000 in prize money is up for grabs in this tournament.The GCC area has been announced as the host for the first PWR World Series, which will take place in February 2025. The PWR, PWR World Series (PWS), and PWR World Tour were recently introduced in Dubai.
The Global Pickleball Federation, the Asian Pickleball Association, and the Indian Pickleball Association all approve PWR DUPR competitions.
