Even though India C lost the Duleep Trophy match, team India batter Shreyas Iyer was overjoyed with his counterattacking half-century. In the domestic tournament, Iyer captained the India D team. However, he scored just nine runs in the first innings and could not establish himself. In the second innings, he did, however, recover and strike a brilliant half-century to establish himself as a contender for a return to the Indian side.

When Iyer withdrew from a Ranji Trophy match earlier this year, claiming fitness concerns, he was taken off the BCCI annual contract list. In addition to being left out of the Ranji match, the gifted batter was selected for the Test series against England but was later substituted due to a back spasm problem.

In an attempt to lead India back into the game, Iyer hit nine fours and a six during his 54 off 44 balls against India C. Manav Suthar, a youthful left-arm spinner, however, took seven wickets to force India D’s batting collapse and help India C win by four wickets.

Iyer, who was hoping to demonstrate positive intent, was thrilled with his knock in the second inning, even if the game ended in a loss.”I had to demonstrate my intent because their bowlers were seaming the ball and delivering beautifully in the appropriate spots. All I wanted to do was go on the offensive and try to bring in a respectable number of people. The ball started to stop a little bit as it grew older. After the game, Shreyas Iyer remarked, “I wanted to capitalize on my intent, but I would take that fifty any day.”It was a plain surface, the stylish batter said, except for a few areas. In the upcoming game, he believes his squad will improve upon its errors and win.

“Not much was offered by the pitch; bowlers could not get any spin. Saransh had tremendous expanses of bowling. Other than the odd spot where the ball spun from outside the off-stump made by the fast bowlers, the surface was dead. Iyer ended his post-match interview with the announcer by saying, “Hopefully, we learn from this and move on.”
