Baljit Singh Sethi, the former NRAI secretary general, died at the age of 89

Baljit Singh Sethi, former secretary general of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), died Wednesday morning. He was 89 years old. 

From 1985 to 2009, he was the NRAI’s secretary general, and he helped to elevate Indian shooting to new heights.”During his reign, shooting became known as a popular sport in the country. His vision, dedication, and passion helped India win its first Olympic medal in shooting, as well as its first individual Olympic gold. “He not only grew the sport for the benefit of the athletes, but he also groomed administrators like us,” said Raninder Singh, former president of the NRAI.

Former National Coach Prof. Sunny Thomas remarked, “His wholehearted support and blessings were always with me throughout my stint as the National coach.”

Senior vice president of NRAI Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo said, “Until his last breath he had been advising and guiding us on how to continuously improve the running of the sport and provide better support to the shooting athletes.”

Sultan Singh, the secretary general of NRAI, stated, “We can only feel blessed that we had the good fortune of learning from him by seeing him work.”
