Premier League victor Shaun Wright-Phillips had plenty to say about Manchester City star Kevin de Bruyne.

Shaun Wright-Phillips, a legend of Manchester City, praised midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, claiming he had Satan in his foot. Despite missing the opening part of the season due to injury, De Bruyne was crucial to Manchester City’s Premier League victory in 2023–24. After participating in 18 Premier League games, he contributed ten assists and four goals.

“Kevin De Bruyne, that’s who he is. It appears as though Satan is biting his foot. He is aware that having him behind you as an attacking player is ideal. He is most likely among the best midfielders to have ever competed in the Premier League. Many would raise their hands and indicate that they can somewhat concur, according to Wright-Phillips, who was speaking to ANI.
The Belgian international left German club Wolfsburg in August 2015 to join Man City. In April of this year, the 33-year-old scored his team’s 100th goal against Crystal Palace. Throughout his career, he has accumulated a lot of assists, including 19 in the last two seasons for Erling Haaland.

In just 237 games, De Bruyne became the fastest player to 100 Premier League assists.
The renowned athlete continued by discussing City forward Haaland. He acknowledged that Lionel Messi’s record of 91 goals scored in a season (2012) with FC Barcelona may be surpassed by the Norwegian.
“Over the past two years, we have witnessed Haaland’s capabilities. As long as the opportunities arise and he continues to play at a high level, he has almost hit 100 goals in a season and for me in general. I fail to see why he can’t, but as I already stated, I don’t believe he’s focused on breaching the regulations specifically.De Bruyne is also the quickest player to reach 100 Premier League assists, doing so in 237 matches.
Further, the legendary player went on to talk about City striker Haaland. He admitted that the Norweign is capable of breaking Lionel Messi’s record of scoring 91 goals (2012 with FC Barcelona) in a season.
“We’ve seen what Haaland is capable of over the last two years. He’s nearly reached 100 goals within a season and a little bit so for me in general as long as the chances are there and he’s on firing form right now. I don’t see why he can’t but like I said, I don’t think he’s necessarily concentrating on breaking the rules.

The 42-year-old continued, “He’s just more intent on getting goals.”

Following his summer 2022 transfer from the Bundesliga to the Premier League, Haaland had a season to remember.

The “Gerd Muller Trophy” for Best Striker of the Year went to the 24-year-old. In the 2022–23 season, Haaland won the Premier League, FA Cup, and UEFA Champions League while playing for Manchester City, giving him a triple of championship wins.

Haaland embarked on an incredible goal-scoring rampage, finishing the season with 56 goals overall—that being his first season with City. In all competitions, he broke the record for the most goals scored by a Premier League player in a season. The forward scored 27 goals in 31 games during the last Premier League season and also contributed five assists. In the season of 2023–24, he won both the league title and the League Cup, capping an incredible treble victory.
