Kidambi Srikanth, a former world number one, will compete in the Macau Open, which begins on Tuesday, as part of a 23-member Indian team.

Kidambi Srikanth, a former world champion, will compete in badminton again in the Macau Open, which begins on Tuesday. He will be one of 23 players from India. Since his injury at the Singapore Open in May, Srikanth, 31, has not competed in the Badminton World Federation (BWF) tour circuit. Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly, the third seeds, will represent India’s best hope in the women’s doubles section at the tournament, having reached the semifinals of the Singapore Open BWF Super 750 earlier this June. However, they have yet to win a title this year.

N Sikki Reddy and B Sumeeth Reddy, Commonwealth Games medalists, will lead India’s mixed doubles team.PV Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medalist, and Lakshya Sen will not compete in the Macau Open, which concludes on Sunday.

Women’s doubles: Ruthvika Shivani Gadde/N Sikki Reddy; qualifiers: Treesa Jolly/Gayatri Gopichand [3], Apoorva Gahlawat/Sakshi Gahlawat.

Mixed doubles: Rohan Kapoor/Ruthvika Shivani Gadde, B Sumeeth Reddy/N Sikki Reddy
