Jurel, Dayal, and Sarfaraz will be freed to play the Irani Cup if they are not selected in India’s XI for the Kanpur Test against Bangladesh.

Ishan Kishan been included in the Rest of India side for the Irani Cup, which will take place in Lucknow from October 1 to 5, adding more momentum to his comeback to red-ball cricket. Kishan recently scored a century for India C in the Duleep Trophy, marking his first first-class cricket appearance since July 2023—a time significant for the loss of his BCCI central contract.

Kishan is one of the team’s two wicketkeepers, and Dhruv Jurel was also chosen, assuming he is not selected by India for the upcoming second Test match between them and Bangladesh, which is scheduled to take place in Kanpur from September 27 to October 1.

The similar warning has been applied to the selection of middle-order batsman Sarfaraz Khan and left-arm quick Yash Dayal, who are both members of the Test team, in the Mumbai and RoI teams.Ruturaj Gaikwad, the captain; Abhimanyu Easwaran, who finished second in the Duleep Trophy run-scoring competition; Devdutt Padikkal; and B Sai Sudharsan are the four frontline openers in the RoI side.

On the other hand, Padikkal and Sai Sudharsan have lately seized mid-order opportunities. at his Test debut earlier this year at Dharamsala against England, Padikkal batted at No. 4.

Ricky Bhui of Andhra and Shashwat Rawat of Baroda have been recognized for their Duleep Trophy performances. With two hundreds and a half-century, Bhui top-scored with 359 runs at an average of 71.80, while Rawat is coming off of scores of 124 and 53 in his most recent India A match.

With Prasidh Krishna, who recently returned from a quadriceps injury in the Duleep Trophy, Mukesh Kumar, and two left-arm quicks in Dayal and Khaleel Ahmed, RoI has assembled a potent pace assault. The spinners are Rahul Chahar, Saransh Jain, and Manav Suthar.Mumbai’s strongest team, which also includes Shreyas Iyer, Prithvi Shaw, and Sarfaraz, will be captained by Ajinkya Rahane. Rahane has been playing red-ball cricket for Leicestershire in the County Championship, which is a consistent diet. In addition, Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur has made a comeback after having foot surgery in June.

Since IPL 2024, Thakur has not participated in any professional cricket matches. He sustained the injury during India’s trip of South Africa at the end of last year. He will be trying to return to contention ahead of an upcoming trip to Australia. He last appeared for India in that South Africa series during the first Test match at Centurion. After that, he went back to play for Mumbai in the Ranji knockout stages.Due to the likelihood of weather-related delays brought on by the monsoons, the game was rescheduled from Mumbai, where it was initially scheduled to take place.
