Team India’s elimination from the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 was caused by Pakistan, who lost eight catches in as many attempts in the field.

It’s often said that wickets win games, and Pakistan’s women’s cricket team proved just that when they played New Zealand in a crucial Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 encounter. Even though New Zealand only managed to score 110 runs when batting first, this number was only made possible by Pakistani players missing up to eight catches during the game. Not only was Pakistan eliminated from the semi-finals race due to their subpar fielding, but Team India also lost, as they needed to defeat the White Ferns to secure a spot in the top 4.

Aakash Chopra, a former cricket player for India, got involved in a heated dispute on social media about Pakistan’s subpar fielding performance.Players are “rested” rather than “dropped” in Asia.
Actually, we don’t even let catches drop. The ball is rested on the earth.

On social media, Chopra and several of her admirers got into a heated argument about the post. Chopra responded angrily to a fan’s attempt to mocking him. The exchange proceeded as follows:

Following a convincing 54-run victory over Pakistan in Dubai, New Zealand qualified for the Women’s T20 World Cup, eliminating India.
The only way India could advance to the semifinals was if Pakistan defeated them with a lower net run rate than they did. Following their restriction of New Zealand to a pitiful 110 for six in 20 overs, Pakistan were very much in the game.
Unfortunately, Pakistan’s batting collapsed dramatically as the White Ferns won three of their four Group A games and were bowled out for 56 in just 11.4 overs. With eight points, Australia led the group; New Zealand came in second with six points. India’s early tournament exit against New Zealand essentially cost them a spot in the last four.
