According to De Villiers, RCB ought to resume their search for a former player.

In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction, former South Africa and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star AB de Villiers has provided his list of players he wants the team to seek. During De Villiers’ 11 seasons with RCB, they made it to the IPL final twice but were unable to take home the trophy. According to De Villiers, RCB will have an advantage in the mega auction due to their large auction purse of Rs 83 crore. He also advised the team to buy back a previous star.

As I previously stated, my goal is to become a world-class spinner. Just bring Yuzi (Yuzvendra Chahal) back. Let’s not play around any more. Let’s return Yuzi to his rightful place in RCB. De Villiers adamantly stated on his YouTube channel, “He should never have left.”

De Villiers identified four players—Chahal, Kagiso Rabada, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar—for whom he thought RCB should undoubtedly win the auction.

“I have a strong crush on Ashwin. You already know what you’re going to get from him because of all that experience. With the bat in hand, he can also win you games. Imagine if the Rajasthan Royals (RR) gave us the twin spinners at RCB,” De Villiers remarked.

Additionally, De Villiers advocated for his countryman Kagiso Rabada and asked the RCB to target the pacer.

“Please, let’s get Kagiso Rabada. After Yuzi Chahal and Kagiso Rabada, we can consider Ashwin. “We’re talking about a bowling attack that can win a tournament if we get those three,” De Villiers said.

“I would spend practically my whole pocketbook on my four priority players. Rabada, Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Chahal. “Go for Mohammed Shami or Arshdeep Singh if you don’t get Rabada,” De Villiers said.

Having kept Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and Yash Dayal, RCB enters the auction with three Right to Match (RTM) cards and an INR 83 crore purse.

On November 24 and 25, the IPL 2025 super auction will be held in Jeddah.
