MS Dhoni, one of the most popular cricketers globally, has seen a remarkable increase in brand endorsements in the first half of 2024.

MS Dhoni, one of the most popular cricketers globally, has seen a remarkable increase in brand endorsements in the first half of 2024. According to data from TAM Media Research, Dhoni secured 42 endorsement deals from January to June, up from 32 during the same period last year. This impressive figure surpasses Bollywood icons Amitabh Bachchan, who has 41 deals, and Shah Rukh Khan with 34. Notably, other prominent athletes like Virat Kohli and Sourav Ganguly also feature in the top endorsements list, with Kohli at 10th place with 21 deals and Ganguly just above him with 24. Kohli’s endorsements have declined from 29 in the previous year.

The data focuses solely on brand endorsements and commercial advertisements, excluding social media promotions. Both Dhoni and Kohli were retained by their respective franchises—Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)—ahead of the IPL mega auction held on November 24-25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Dhoni was retained as an uncapped player for Rs 4 crore, while Kohli became RCB’s most expensive retention at Rs 21 crore.

Dhoni’s endorsement portfolio includes major brands such as Citroën, Garuda Aerospace, Flipkart’s Cleartrip, Lay’s, EMotorad, Mastercard, Gulf Oil, and Orient Electric. His recent partnership with Eurogrip Tyres adds to his diverse range of endorsements ahead of the IPL season. Despite retiring from international cricket in August 2020, Dhoni’s influence remains strong, making him a sought-after figure for various brands across multiple sectors.
