Shaheen became the first Pakistani bowler to reach 100 wickets in both formats with a three-wicket haul, fulfilling his goal of 100 T20I wickets.

Ace seamer Shaheen Afridi made history by being the first bowler from Pakistan to take 100 wickets in every international cricket format. In Tuesday night’s inaugural Twenty20 International match against South Africa in Durban, Shaheen achieved the uncommon feat of taking three wickets in the first innings by striking once during the powerplay, once during the middle phase, and once towards the conclusion. Shaheen became the first Pakistani bowler to reach 100 wickets in both formats with a three-wicket haul, and he also reached 100 T20I wickets. In addition to T20Is, the 24-year-old left-arm seamer has 116 Test cricket wickets and 112 ODI wickets.

Following Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf, he became the third bowler from Pakistan to reach 100 T20I wickets with his record-breaking spell.

In his 74th Twenty20 International match for Pakistan, Shaheen reached the three-digit figure milestone. After fiery bowler Haris Rauf, who accomplished the mark in 71 T20I matches, he became the second-fastest player to take 100 wickets for Pakistan.

In all, Shaheen became the youngest player to accomplish the feat, joining Tim Southee of New Zealand, Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh, and Lasith Malinga of Sri Lanka. Before the match, Shaheen used a perfect yorker to clean up Rassie van der Dussen for a golden duck. Before David Miller could raise his well-earned century, he returned to dismiss him.

In order to earn his 100th T20I wicket and join the select group, he trapped Nqabayomzi Peter in front of the stumps in the final. In his four-over session, Shaheen finished the first Twenty20 International with figures of 3/22.Despite the heroics of Shaheen, Pakistan lost by a slim margin of 11 runs. In pursuit of a formidable 184, captain Muhammad Rizwan saw no opposition. Pakistan scored thanks to his 74, but it wasn’t enough to get the visitors over the finish line.
