Pakistan’s 2017 Champions Trophy star, Muhammad Amir, has announced his retirement.
On Saturday, Pakistani bowler Muhammad Amir declared his retirement from international cricket. A day after all-rounder Imad Wasim declared he would no longer play international cricket, the speedster made the decision to retire from the sport. Imad Wasim and Amir both played for Pakistan in the T20 World Cup, which was played in the USA and the West Indies this year.Since his June 2009 debut, Amir, now 32, has played in 36 Test matches, 61 ODIs, and 62 T20Is for Pakistan. Amir amassed 1,179 runs in all three forms while taking 271 international wickets. Known for his valiant performance against India in the 2017 Champions Trophy final, the left-arm bowler returned with figures of 3-16.
Amir claimed the crucial wickets of Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma in the summit match against India.
When he declared his availability for the T20 World Cup this year, Mohammad Amir chose to rescind his 2021 announcement that he will retire from all international cricket competitions.”Playing in all three formats for Pakistan has been an immense honor. In a statement released by the Pakistan Cricket Board, Amir stated, “I understand that this is a tough choice, but I believe that now is the ideal moment for the next generation to step up and lead Pakistan cricket to new heights.”
