The International Cricket Council (ICC) eventually formally announced the Champions Trophy sites after several months of waiting.
There is no longer any uncertainty regarding the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 location. The locations for the premier event were finally announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC) following several months of delay. In a statement, the ICC stated that the 2025 ICC Men’s Champions Trophy would be held in a neutral location throughout Pakistan. It indicates that India will play all of its games, including the knockout stages (should it qualify), at a neutral location. The world organization chaired by Jay Shah has made another significant ruling: until 2027, all India vs. Pakistan cricket matches in ICC events organized by the two nations shall take place at neutral locations.”India and Pakistan matches hosted by either country at ICC Events during the 2024-2027 rights cycle will be played at a neutral venue, the ICC Board confirmed on Thursday, 19 December,” the statement read.
“This will apply to the upcoming ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 (hosted by Pakistan), set to be played in February and March 2025, as well as the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 (hosted by India) and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 (hosted by India and Sri Lanka).”
Despite being the host or co-host, the Indian cricket team will have to travel outside of its own nation for the first time to face Pakistan in an ICC event due to the ICC’s “compromise.” That might be detrimental to a nation that prides itself on being a cricket powerhouse.
For over ten years, India and Pakistan have only faced one another in Asian Cricket Council (ACC) or ICC competitions. India did not visit Pakistan during this time, and its matches were held at a neutral location whenever the country hosted an ICC or ACC event. The last bilateral series that India visited Pakistan was in 2005–06. In 2012–13, Pakistan made its most recent bilateral series visit of India.
The 2025 Champions Trophy hosting location was the subject of a protracted deadlock. The issue arose when the BCCI declared that, without permission from the Indian government, it would not be sending the Indian cricket team to Pakistan, the Champions Trophy’s designated hosts. At that point, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) became irate and refused to accept a hybrid hosting model. They went on to say that when India hosts an ICC event, the same “hybrid model” would need to be used. Although it took a while to find a resolution, a compromise has already been struck.
Additionally, the ICC granted Pakistan the right to host the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2028.
Additionally, it was revealed that the PCB would host the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2028, with neutral venue preparations also being in place. One of the senior ICC women’s events will be held in Cricket Australia in 2029–2031, the ICC announced in a press release.”The 2025 ICC Champions Trophy schedule will be announced soon, as Pakistan hopes to defend their 2017 championship. Along with hosts Pakistan, the eight-team competition will include Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, and South Africa.
