The BCCI’s state units will congratulate newly elected International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman Jay Shah on the sidelines of the Special General Meeting, which is set for Sunday in Mumbai.
Shah, a former secretary of the BCCI, was elected unopposed in August of last year and assumed the esteemed position on December 1st, making him the youngest chairman of the ICC. Greg Barclay, who chose not to run for a third term, was replaced by him.
Shah has been the chairman of the Asian Cricket Council since January 2021 and the secretary of the BCCI since October 2019.
However, as Shah is no longer a BCCI office-bearer, he would not be a part of the SGM.
The administrator of cricket, who has been leading the charge to increase the game’s global presence, recently met with senior members of the organizing committee for the 2032 Summer Olympics in Brisbane to talk about the sport’s inclusion in the Summer Games.
