Jos Buttler gives Blunt Take As Team India Prepares for Less Time With Family Following BCCI Diktat

Jos Buttler, the captain of England, stated on Tuesday that it is “really important” to have partners and kids on extended overseas missions.

England captain Jos Buttler stated on Tuesday that having partners and kids on extended foreign missions is “really important” and does not “too much” impact the game, as Indian players prepare to spend less time with their families during extended tours overseas according to a BCCI directive. A controversial provision in the BCCI’s recently released 10-point player disciplinary policy was the restriction of time spent with family members while on tour. Rohit Sharma, the captain of India in Test and One-Day International matches, has already expressed his concerns over the provision that limits family vacations to 45 days at two weeks.

“…that’s a loaded question, isn’t it?” Buttler remarked this on the eve of a five-match series against Suryakumar Yadav’s Indian T20 side, obviously fully aware of the present upheaval in the country following a catastrophic Test trip to Australia.

“I think it’s crucial. We live in a very contemporary society now, and I think it’s fantastic to be able to take family on the tour with you and try to appreciate that,” he continued.

“People spend a lot of time away from home, play a lot of cricket, and I believe that all of that has been emphasized since COVID. Indeed, I don’t believe it has a significant impact on the sport. However, Buttler also claimed that families may be handled well and do not conflict with work obligations.

“I believe it’s a pretty doable situation. From my perspective, I believe it’s crucial to try to communicate that to your family and ease the strain of being away from home,” he wrote. The BCCI has declared that head coach Gautam Gambhir must give his prior consent before any waiver of the family time regulation can take place.

On this tour, England captain Jos Buttler intends to establish a working relationship with new head coach Brendon McCullum and is optimistic that the T20I series against India won’t interfere with their preparation for the forthcoming Champions Trophy.
In the lead-up to the major event, England will only play three 50-over matches against India in the ODI-format Champions Trophy, which begins on February 19.

“The series against a really good team in their own circumstances is going to be fantastic. There are many things to anticipate. Right now, timetables don’t concern me. On the eve of the inaugural Twenty20 International at Eden Gardens, Buttler stated, “I’m just looking forward to playing some games.”

“I believe the T20 series will be incredibly thrilling. I’m simply excited for the games, of course, since there are several ODIs to follow,” he continued.

Buttler sought to strengthen his relationship with McCullum, the red-ball coach who had replaced Matthew Mott as England’s limited over forms coach. “Obviously, it’s not a new setup because Baz (McCullum) has been around for a while,” Buttler stated.

Many players on this team have collaborated with him in the Test team over the years. I’m simply looking forward to developing that friendship in the white-ball setting, then. England’s full-strength squad has landed in India, with Mark Wood and Jofra Archer leading the speed department.

“We’re not at all like that in this series, but sometimes there’s so much cricket that some players have to be rested or handled.
