According to reports, the BCCI had rejected Team India’s request to have the word “Pakistan” written on their uniforms for the ICC Champions Trophy.

The Indian Board of Control for Cricket has received a strong warning from the International Cricket Council in the midst of a new issue around the board’s purported unwillingness to include the word “Pakistan” in the tournament logo on the team’s Champions Trophy uniforms. The Indian team will play its Champions Trophy matches in Dubai, according to media reports, and the BCCI is not interested in having the word “Pakistan” printed on the team uniform as part of the “host nation regulation.” The Indian board has allegedly been questioned by the ICC on the requirement that the Indian team’s uniform bear the word “Pakistan” because the country was the tournament’s original host.

Each team is in charge of emblazoning their shirts with the tournament’s logo. This guideline must be followed by all teams,” an ICC official stated, according to A-Sports.

According to reports, the apex body also threatened to take severe punishment against the Indian squad if the players’ uniforms did not bear the Champions Trophy insignia along with the name of the host nation, Pakistan.

Regardless of where the matches are being played, teams are required by ICC regulations to have the name of the hosts printed on their jerseys.Although the Pakistan Cricket Board has allegedly denied getting any such information from the Indian board, an IANS report had implied that the BCCI is not interested in having Pakistan written on the team’s shirts.

There has been a lot of tension between the PCB and the BCCI in recent months, particularly after the Indian board declined to send its squad to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. The issue was ultimately resolved, but the BCCI may also be required to pay a hefty cost for it when India hosts a few ICC events soon. After a curtain-raiser function that included all of the competing teams’ captains, there is still tension around India captain Rohit Sharma’s trip to Pakistan. The BCCI’s willingness to let him enter the border is still unknown.
