India bowler Arshdeep Singh has been chosen the ICC men’s T20I cricketer of the year for 2024. Arshdeep got the accolade following a spectacular performance in the last 12 months, during which he took 36 wickets in just 18 games. He was the fifth highest wicket-taker in the T20I format.
Arshdeep’s talent was highlighted by the fact that he had the best bowling average among the top five full-time ICC bowlers. The left-hander took wickets at 13.50 with a remarkable economy of 7.49. Arshdeep was instrumental in helping India win the T20 World Cup 2024 championship, and he stepped up as the attack’s commander as the selectors ushered in a new era for the T20 side following the Caribbean success.
After winning the award, Arshdeep told the ICC that winning the T20I World Cup 2024 was the most memorable part of the journey. “It feels great to win the ICC T20I men’s cricketer of the year award. I am very grateful. I am thankful to God. Thank you everyone who helped get the best out of me. The special moment was the final, as every Indian would say,” the pacer, who currently leads the Indian bowling attack in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, said the ICC after receiving the award.”I just try to bring the best out of myself for the team and give them good results,” the runner explained.
Arshdeep Singh’s rise continued following his T20 World Cup victory, with the pacer earning a mega-bid in the Indian Premier League auction. After Pubjab Kings released the pacer in the auction pool, the franchise purchased him back using the Right To Match card for a whopping Rs 18 crore.
