“I feel incredibly lucky. I had the opportunity to play a sport I liked. I was able to play for some fantastic teams and take in some incredible experiences during a truly fantastic period in Australian cricket history. It’s also incredible to be acknowledged for possibly contributing some of the distinctive elements to Australian cricket, especially one-day cricket. Even though it has been a while, I remember all of those things with great pride and affection,” Bevan stated, as cited by cricket.com.au.Cricket Australia changed its criteria to allow players to be included “for their overall contribution to the game of cricket, whether that is across all formats, or in just one format, available in their era.” Bevan’s selection follows this adjustment.
Bevan represented South Australia, Yorkshire, Sussex, Leicestershire, Kent, New South Wales, and Tasmania. He played 237 games in first-class cricket, scoring 19,147 runs at 57.32, including 68 hundreds and 81 fifties, with a peak score of 216.He joins Michael Clarke and Christina Matthews, who were inducted into Australia’s Hall of Fame earlier this season.
