Rohit Sharma Receives a Direct Message From R Ashwin Requesting A Change To India’s Champions Trophy Team

R Ashwin wants one change to India’s Champions Trophy lineup, but he isn’t sure who will be omitted.

India’s Champions Trophy team has been out for some time, but some players’ performances in the just finished T20I series against England have prompted speculation of ‘changes’. While India has selected four spinners for the showpiece ICC event, senior all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has requested that Varun Chakravarthy be included to the squad. Chakravarthy was outstanding with the ball against England, taking 14 wickets in five matches and earning the title of player of the series. Chakravarthy has not yet played an ODI for India, although he is expected to make his debut in the 50-over match against England.

Ashwin believes the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee may alter the Champions Trophy team in order to make room for the mystery spinner’s participation if Chakravarthy is able to demonstrate his ability to handle the ball in the 50-over format as well.

We’re all debating whether he ought to have been on the Champions Trophy team, but I believe there’s a chance he was. I suspect that he may survive. Since each team has merely announced a tentative squad, there is a chance. On his YouTube channel, R Ashwin stated, “he might be selected.”The stated India team is merely “provisional,” and any modifications are welcome until February 11. Varun might continue to argue for his selection, but Ashwin questions who player he would replace if chosen. Rohit Sharma, the captain, and others would have a difficult decision to make if a change were made.

However, if you look at the current team, Varun will be an extra spinner (five) if a seamer leaves. If they consider putting Varun in, I’m not sure who they would want to drop. “We’ll see,” he continued.”I think Varun might get an opportunity to play in the India-England ODI series. Taking him straight to the Champions Trophy isn’t an easy decision, in my opinion. He hasn’t participated in ODIs. In the India vs. England ODI series, I think they’ll give him an opportunity,” Ashwin remarked.

“It’s challenging if they don’t give him an opportunity here. Nevertheless, I would want to congratulate Varun on winning Player of the Tournament for the first time. Right now, he is T20I cricket’s Chakravarthy. “I hope he continues to grow,” he said.
