Abhishek Sharma, a star Indian batsman, has taken the global cricket by storm. The 24-year-old has been in fantastic form recently, with quickfire knocks in the IPL and excellence for the Indian squad in the shortest format. He recently made headlines for his dominant performance against England in the fifth T20I of the ongoing white ball series. Abhishek’s amazing innings of 135 runs in 54 deliveries against England at the Wankhede Stadium propelled him up the ICC men’s T20I batting rankings. His blitzkrieg in Wankhede sent the 24-year-old up 38 spots in the standings to second place.
Travis Head, Australia’s ace batter, remains at No. 1 with an 855 rating. Abhishek Sharma has a rating of 829. Tilak Varma, who was previously in second position, dropped one spot to third with an 803 rating, while Phil Salt and Suryakumar Yadav moved up to fourth and fifth, respectively.
Abhishek Sharma will continue to hone his talents in the hopes of rapidly claiming the top spot in the rankings. The 24-year-old will have to wait, though, because the Indian team isn’t slated to play any T20Is anytime soon.It is also worth noting that after five T20Is against England, Abhishek Sharma remained the leading run scorer. He scored 279 runs, more than Jos Buttler, who finished second with 146 runs in five innings.
