India captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill are vying for the top slot in the ICC men’s ODI player rankings with one week remaining until the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, was still ranked first in the most recent rankings update, but the Indian pair is catching up after strong performances in the ODI series against England. After back-to-back half-centuries against England, Gill moved up one spot to second in the most recent ODI batter rankings, barely five rating points behind Babar. Meanwhile, Rohit, in third position, is within 13 rating points of the Pakistani right-hander after his incredible century in Cuttack.
