In the 2025 Indian Premier League, MS Dhoni will play for the Chennai Super Kings as an uncapped player.
Even though he hasn’t played international cricket for almost six years, the famous MS Dhoni may not be ready to retire from the Indian Premier League just yet. He still wants to play cricket like a “child.” The former captain, 43, last played for India in an international match in June 2019. He led the team to World Cup victories in 2011 (ODI) and 2007 (T20) and the Champions Trophy in 2013. Dhoni ended his international career in August 2019, but he still plays for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, who kept him before the huge auction last year.
After more than five years as a retired international cricket player, he will now play as an uncapped player.
It will be a while because I’ve been retired since 2019. During the introduction of his app on Wednesday, which was powered by Single.id, Dhoni stated, “What I’ve been doing in the interim is I just want to enjoy cricket for the last, whatever few years, you know, I will be able to play.”
“I want to appreciate it the way I did in school as a kid. We would go play cricket most of the time because 4 p.m. was sports time when I lived in a colony. However, we used to play football when the weather didn’t allow it. It’s easier said than done, he continued, “but I want to play with the same kind of innocence.”
As an Indian player, Dhoni stated that his primary goal was to always give his all for his nation, with everything else coming in second.
“I’ve always wanted to play for the Indian cricket team as a cricket player because I’ve stated in the past that not everyone gets the opportunity to represent the country,” he remarked.”As cricket players, we had the opportunity to win awards for the nation whenever we performed on a large stage or when we were on tour, so for me, the nation always came first.” Dhoni counseled young athletes to prioritize their goals and determine what is “good for you.”
“You must always determine what is best for you. I made sure that cricket was everything to me while I was playing; nothing else mattered. When did I have to go to bed? When did I have to wake up? The most crucial thing, he added, was how it affected (my) cricket.”All the friendships and fun can happen later. There is a time and place for everything, and I believe that recognizing this is the best thing you can do for yourself.
