Mushfiqur Rahim, a veteran wicketkeeper, ended his ODI career after Bangladesh failed to get to the semi-finals of the major event held in Pakistan and Dubai.

Mushfiqur Rahim, a Bangladesh veteran, declared his retirement from one-day internationals after the country failed to meet expectations in the Champions Trophy 2025. Mushfiqur also waved farewell to the 50-over format on Wednesday, after Steve Smith retired from ODIs.

Mushfiqur was placed in Category A of Bangladesh’s central contracts for the 2025 season after the BCB implemented the ‘category’ system to recognize good achievements. Mushfiqur endured harsh criticism during the Champions Trophy after scoring 0 and 2 against India and New Zealand, respectively.

“I am declaring my retirement from ODIs as of now. While our achievements may have been limited on a worldwide scale, one thing is certain: anytime I stepped onto the field for my nation, I gave it my all with dedication and honesty,” Mushfiqur stated on Instagram.
