However, the teenager withdrew from the forthcoming edition to focus on England’s domestic season following their terrible performance in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He is scheduled to miss the 2025 edition and will not be permitted to play in 2026, even if he makes himself available. The ban will last two years, including the following season.Ahead of the 2018 season’s super auction, the IPL governing council announced that any player who withdraws after being selected in the auction faces a two-year ban.
“Any player who registers in the player auction and after getting picked at the auction, makes himself unavailable before the start of the season, will get banned from participating in the tournament and player auction for 2 Seasons,” per the rules.Brook hasn’t been in good form this year, scoring 91 runs in five T20Is and only one half-century. In ODIs, he has 97 runs from six matches without scoring 50 or more.Brook previously skipped the 2024 season of the tournament with the Delhi Capitals, withdrawing only ten days before the start of the season to be with his family grieving the death of his grandma. The Delhi-based team purchased him for Rs 4 crore in a pre-season mini-auction.Brook has only played one season in the IPL for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in 2023, scoring 190 runs in 11 innings, including a century against the Kolkata Knight Riders. The youngster is poised to take over the captaincy of England’s white-ball team after Jos Buttler stepped down following their Champions Trophy defeat.
