It has been claimed that Indian opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal has chosen to switch team.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, one of Indian cricket’s most talented player, has made the decision to make a significant career change. After playing for the Mumbai state team since his under-19 days, Jaiswal is rumored to have made the decision to leave the squad and join Goa starting in the upcoming season. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) reportedly received an email from Jaiswal asking for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) so that he may switch his cricket state team. Some of the other Mumbai cricket players who recently switched teams to Goa are Arjun Tendulkar and Siddhesh Lad.
Jaiswal just returned from an unimpressive Border-Gavaskar Trophy campaign in Australia to play for Mumbai in the 2024–25 Ranji Trophy. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has mandated that Team India’s stars play domestic red-ball cricket, which has caused players like Virat Kohli, Jaiswal, and Rohit Sharma to rejoin their state sides.
However, Jaiswal will be playing domestic cricket in the Goa jersey starting in the upcoming season.”He has requested a NOC from us and has stated that his move to Goa was personal,” an MCA source told the Indian Express.
We welcome him to perform for us if he so desires. “He will start playing for us in the upcoming season,” Shamba Desai, secretary of the Goa Cricket Association, told PTI.
When he is not serving his country, Jaiswal may be the captain of Goa.
In response to a question about whether Jaiswal may run for state captain, he said, “Yes, that can happen.”Since he is a member of the Indian cricket team, he is eligible to serve as captain, and we will endeavor to select him. We have not yet met to discuss his availability (for the domestic competitions),” he continued.
Jaiswal’s Rajasthan Royals IPL 2025 campaign has gotten off to a rough start. The team has struggled to generate positive outcomes, and the opening batsman has only managed to score 34 runs in three games.
With an average of 11.33 runs, a strike rate of 106.25, and a maximum score of 29, RR’s most explosive and potential batsman has only scored 29 runs in three games. His scores thus far are 1, 29, and 4.Since the IPL 2024, Jaiswal has struggled a lot with the powerplay, especially in the first three overs. He has been removed eight times out of eighteen times in the opening three overs of an innings since the last IPL. This represents a dismissal rate of 44%. With the batter scoring 625 runs in the later season, it is an improvement over the 29% expulsion rate in seasons 2022 and 2023.Jaiswal’s 2024 season was as disappointing; despite scoring 435 runs at an average of 31.07 and a strike rate of nearly 156, he was only able to record one century and fifty in the competition.
It’s noteworthy that, in contrast to the previous two seasons, his attacking shot percentage has decreased to 70% during the past two seasons.
