Due to their comments about the curator of the Eden Gardens, the Cricket Association of Bengal is calling for Simon Doull and Harsha Bhogle to be prohibited from commentating there.

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has requested that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) prohibit Harsha Bhogle and Simon Doull from commentating on games at the Eden Gardens in response to grievances lodged by the captains and coaches of multiple Indian Premier League (IPL) teams against home pitch curators. Following Doull and Bhogle’s suggestion that the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) relocate outside of the city due to the home curator’s lack of assistance in preparing pitches in accordance with the franchise’s requirements, CAB made the request.

The state association has written a strongly worded letter to the BCCI requesting that they forbid commentators Simon Doull and/or Harsha Bhogle from discussing any of the matches at Eden Gardens during the current IPL season, according to a story in RevSportz.

If the Eden Gardens curator’s lack of collaboration persists, Doull had proposed in a Cricbuzz discussion that the Ajinkya Rahane-led franchise should choose a new home ground.”If he (the curator) doesn’t listen to what the home team wants…” I mean, they’re paying the stadium costs and what’s going on in the IPL, but if he’s still not paying attention to what the home team wants, relocate the franchise somewhere else. His job is not to express an opinion about the game. “That’s not what he paid for,” Doull had stated.’

Harsha Bhogle has also expressed his feelings. “If they are playing at home, (they) should get the tracks that they believe are best for their bowlers.” I saw something (about) what the KKR curator has said,” he had said.On the matter, however, the CAB took the side of curator Mukherjee, arguing that he has done nothing wrong and is merely abiding by the BCCI rulebook, which specifies that no franchise has the authority to specify the type of pitch that must be prepared at a location.

The wicket has frequently turned out to be more pace-friendly, encouraging high-scoring games, despite KKR captain Rahane’s renowned request for Mukherjee to produce a more spin-friendly track that aids the team’s players like Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine.

According to CAB, the curator has prepared the wicket in accordance with the instructions.Harsha Bhogle and Simon Doull are not anticipated to commentate on Monday’s IPL encounter between hosts KKR and the Gujarat Titans at Eden Gardens, according to the source, even though the BCCI has not yet issued an official statement.

It should be mentioned that the Eden Gardens will host the 2025 Indian Premier League final on May 25.
