Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s first IPL hundred caused the cricket world to stand up and take notice.
When asked about the Rajasthan Royals’ 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s blitzkrieg against his team on Monday, Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill remained silent. Gill and the rest of the Gujarat Titans team were understandably shaken by the way RR scored runs as they successfully chased down the goal of 210 runs with more than 4 overs remaining, led by Suryavanshi. Gill did not compliment Suryavanshi during his remarks at the post-match presentation ceremony, implying that the kids’ day was the reason he was able to perform as he did.”He had a lucky day. “He made the most of his day and his hitting was simply amazing,” Shubman Gill told the broadcaster following the game.
But Ajay Jadeja, a former cricket player for India, wasn’t happy with Gill’s remarks. Jadeja didn’t like the suggestion that Suryavanshi’s performance was the result of luck. Even though he was watching the teenager’s antics, the former India batter still wanted more from Gill.”But for a 14-year-old to believe in himself, the amount that he believes in himself, and to take it that far, even if it’s, you know, one day, like some player on television just said, oh, it was just his lucky day,” Jadeja said in a chat with JioStar before the conversation was cut short due to the presentation ceremony.
