The Indian team’s bowling unit produced a 10-wicket victory over Zimbabwe by holding the hosts to less than 200 runs in the opening ODI here on Thursday. India captain KL Rahul was extremely pleased with the performance of his team.
Despite returning to international cricket after more than two months, Rahul chose to stick with the strong opening combo of Shubman Gill and Shikhar Dhawan, who put up an unbroken opening stand of 192 runs.
“Getting wickets was essential. Swing and seam movement were also present. However, it was encouraging to watch them (bowlers) place the ball in the proper spots and exercise restraint “At the post-game presentation ceremony, the captain said
Rahul, Deepak Chahar, and Kuldeep Yadav were three players in the starting lineup who were making their comebacks following extensive rehabilitation.
“I am on the field, and everything is as good as it can be for me. We do play a lot of cricket, and injuries will occur occasionally “explained Rahul.
It’s difficult to be away from the game. Rehab and everything else become monotonous. Instead of visiting the physio, we’d rather be playing. It feels amazing for a handful of us to be back in the Indian dressing room.
