Ahead of the 2023 IPL, Punjab Kings are planning to hire World Cup champion Trevor Bayliss as their head coach in the hopes that the Australian can lead them to the coveted championship.
The 59-year-old New South Wales native has coached the Sunrisers Hyderabad most recently and is a frequent participant in the IPL.
Bayliss led the support staff of the Kolkata Knight Riders when they won the IPL in 2012 and 2014 in addition to leading England to their first ODI World Cup victory in 2019.
Anil Kumble, a legendary player for India, was replaced by Bayliss after his three-year contract was not renewed due to the team’s failure to advance to the playoffs. Punjab lost to KKR in 2014, their only IPL season finale participation.
The group has chosen to move on with Trevor, who is regarded as one of the best in the field and has a track record. The team’s administration is optimistic that he can lead them to victory in the championship.
