Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar suggested on Monday that Virat Kohli should identify the player from whom he was anticipating a call and make clear the type of message he was looking for after resigning as Test captain.
With the exception of former skipper MS Dhoni, Kohli claimed that none of the previous players called him during Sunday’s five-wicket loss to Pakistan in an Asia Cup encounter between the two nations. Kohli top scored with 60 in that game.
After the game, Kohli stated, “One thing I can tell you is that when I gave up Test captaincy, I got a message from only one player who I’ve played with previously — MS Dhoni.”
Gavaskar was very firm when asked about Virat’s complaint.
“Who Virat is alluding to is difficult to determine. You can then go and ask that guy if you have contacted him or not if he had taken any names. According to what I’ve heard, he is referring to the single call MSD made to him after he left his Test Captaincy “Gavakar said.
“If he is referring to former teammates, we all know who has appeared on television from that group. He ought to identify the player to whom he is referring. Ask them Kya Bhai aapne koi Message nahi kiya (Bro, you didn’t message me?)”.
