Anupama Upadhyaya, a young shuttler from India, is only the second player in the under-19 girls singles division to hold the top spot in the most recent BWF Junior rankings.
On Tuesday, the 17-year-old from Panchkula, who had earlier this year won junior international championships in Poland and Uganda, supplanted fellow Indian Tasnim Mir at the top.
She is one of the four girls that appear in the Top 10 of the junior rankings and has climbed two spots to take the lead with 18.060 points from 18 tournaments.
Anupama is only the sixth Indian shuttler overall to be ranked first in the junior rankings.
