Fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel, who have now fully recovered from their injuries, were added to the roster as expected, giving India a significant advantage as the national selectors named a star-studded 15-person squad for the forthcoming T20 World Cup in Australia.
The 16-member India squads for the upcoming T20I series at home against Australia (three matches beginning with the first on September 20 in Mohali) and South Africa were also chosen by chief selector Chetan Sharma and his colleagues, along with captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid, on a busy day (three matches beginning with the first on September 28 in Thiruvananthapuram).
