At the upcoming Twenty20 World Cup in Australia, England’s coaching staff will have an uniquely Australian vibe.
England has added two more Australians to its coaching staff for the tournament, including ex-fast bowling coach David Saker and former international batter Michael Hussey. The team is already led by an Australian in head coach Matthew Mott.
Saker spent five years with the England men’s team before departing in 2015. Saker will start his consulting contract during the upcoming T20 series in Pakistan that precedes the T20 World Cup. He contributed to the development of the bowling assault that enabled the side win the Ashes in 2010–11 and reach the top of the test rankings.
Saker was working as Australia’s bowling coach on the other side of the Ashes divide just a year after quitting the England setup. He most recently served as Mickey Arthur’s assistant coach with Sri Lanka.
