During the first innings of the third ODI against New Zealand, India’s wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant was observed receiving medical attention in the locker room. It is unclear at this time whether he will be ready for the second half of the match. At position four in the batting order, Pant struck two boundaries before being out after 16 balls.
The left-hander has been under pressure because he hasn’t been able to hit significant runs since his ODI century against England in July. It hasn’t gone over well with the fans that Sanju Samson was benched despite being in good form to make room for all-rounder Deepak Hooda in the lineup, and the time is running out for him to be reinstated.

“I would like to open the batting in T20Is, and in ODIs, I would like to bat at No.4 or 5. In Tests, I am batting at no. 5 only. Obviously, the game plan changes when you are batting at different positions, but at the same time, the coach and captain think about what is best for the team and where the player can contribute the most. Wherever I get the opportunity, I will try to do my best. In ODIs, you do not need to premeditate much, but you have to do that in T20s,” Pant told Amazon Prime Video.
