Ben Stokes was the most expensive buy ever made by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 auction. The four-time champions signed Stokes for a sum of INR 16.25 crore. At Chennai, Stokes, who now captains England in Test matches, is also being considered as a possible future captaincy candidate. But before the 16th season of the league itself, according to former New Zealand all-rounder Scott Styris, the England great might replace MS Dhoni at the plate.

“I think so, I think he will be captain. We have seen MS Dhoni try and pass the captaincy on, he has not been playing cricket regularly in between the IPL. It’s just an opportunity for MS Dhoni to pass the baton. I think yes, they will do it straight away. Ben Stokes will be captain,”Styris said.
