Javed will remain with the national squad till the end of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which will take place in the USA and the West Indies in June 2024, according to SLC.
Aaqib Javed, a former Pakistani bowler, has been named as Sri Lanka Cricket’s fast bowling coach effective immediately.According to an announcement from SLC, Javed will remain with the national squad until the end of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which will take place in the USA and the West Indies in June 2024.
The member of Pakistan’s 1992 World Cup winning team, Javed played in 163 One-Day Internationals and 22 Test matches.
In addition to coaching the UAE, the 51-year-old has experience coaching bowling for Pakistan and working in a developmental capacity with the Afghanistan national team.
The UAE squad achieved status in both ODI and T20I cricket, qualified for the 2015 ICC Men’s ODI World Cup, and participated in the 2014 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup qualifications during his term.
In addition, he was the bowling coach for Pakistan during their victory in the 2009 T20 World Cup in England. He previously led the Pakistan U19 team to victory in the 2004 World Cup.
He is currently the head coach of the Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Premier League (PSL) and the director of cricket operations.
