AB de Villiers explains why Virat Kohli is his preferred T20 batting partner

Virat Kohli is AB de Villiers’ preferred batting partner in T20s, according to de Villiers.

AB de Villiers is remembered as one of the most formidable batsmen in T20 cricket history. De Villiers accomplished something that the majority of other batters wouldn’t even dare to attempt, whether it was for South Africa or his franchise teams. Virat Kohli was his partner in crime at Indian Premier League team Royal Challengers Bangalore, and the two forged an unbreakable relationship both on and off the pitch.

Even though De Villiers and Kohli’s egos occasionally clashed on the pitch, they managed to make it work.

“I had the best time batting for the Proteas with Hashim Amla. We created some fantastic partnerships, in my opinion. Virat is without a doubt the best player in T20 cricket and the IPL. Our playing styles and personalities were somewhat at odds. We were both pretty focused. It sounds like the ideal partnership, but both wanted to win the game right quickly,” he stated during a Q&A on YouTube.

“There are occasions when it clashes, but Virat and I are so familiar with one another’s personalities and styles of play that we have always found a way to make it work. I am so familiar with him off the pitch that we were able to make that personality conflict work’, continued De Villiers.
Anyone who enjoys cricket is aware of the bond that Virat and AB have. They consistently batted in the team’s fifth and sixth gear, which was what made them click on the pitch for RCB.

We occasionally overexerted ourselves. He would leave, I would leave, and then all of a sudden, RCB would be 30/3. It occasionally paid off for Virat and I to drive in fifth or sixth gear the entire time. I can conceive about the 200 partnership in Mumbai in terms of the IPL. There are 200 more partners at the Chinnaswamy. The ex-South Africa captain remarked, “We always played for the team and nothing else mattered.
