The Gujarat Titans will be the opponent of the Kolkata Knight Riders on Monday at Eden Gardens.

On Monday, the Kolkata Knight Riders will play the Gujarat Titans at Eden Gardens. Additionally, Abhishek Nayar will return to his role as KKR’s assistant coach for this game. After joining Team India as the assistant coach, Nayar, who had been a part of KKR’s coaching staff in the previous season, quit. Gautam Gambhir, the head coach, selected him and Ryan Ten Doeschate to be his assistants. However, following India’s disastrous performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia, the BCCI took harsh measures and dismissed Nayar.Nayar rejoined KKR as assistant coach shortly after being fired, and he was recently spotted engaging with the players in a video.

Nayar and captain Ajinkya Rahane were seen approaching the field in a video that KKR uploaded to X (previously Twitter). The cameraman greeted him upon his return. “I’m grateful. Thank you. “It’s good to be back,” Nayar said.

Rinku Singh, the batter, and head coach Chandrakant Pandit also spoke with the 41-year-old later.

In the aftermath of India’s poor performance in Test cricket, the BCCI fired conditioning coach Soham Desai, fielding coach T Dilip, and support staff member Nayar after a performance evaluation.

Following an astounding 0–3 thumping at home against New Zealand, India lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series 1-3 in Australia, their first loss in ten years.

His future was called into question when the BCCI hired Sitanshu Kotak as batting coach for the England white-ball series earlier this year, even though he had received recognition for his work with players like KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, and Shreyas Iyer. Regarding Nayar’s dismissal, the BCCI has not released any formal statements.

Speaking of KKR, the reigning champions will be hoping that their batting unit, which is beset by turmoil, will tighten up against the Gujarat Titans, who are now leading the table. The Knight Riders’ unfathomable collapse in their most recent game against the Punjab Kings in Mullanpur, where they were bowled out for 95 while chasing 112, was a perfect example of the general decay that has crept in among its hitters.
