Following an LBW appeal, Farooqi was also given a demerit point for signaling for DRS during the second ODI against Zimbabwe while DRS was unavailable.Fazalhaq Farooqi, a bowler for Afghanistan, was fined 15% of the match money on Friday for his dissension during the team’s second One-Day International match against Zimbabwe in Harare.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) declared on Thursday that Farooqi had been punished for violating Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct.
Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which deals with “showing dissent at an umpire’s decision during an international match,” is where the infraction is found, the release continued.
Farooqi received one demerit point as well. When the Decision Review System (DRS) was unavailable for the game, the left-arm bowler in the fifth over of Zimbabwe’s innings asked for an LBW appeal against Craig Ervine.
Fazalhaq acknowledged the transgression and agreed to the penalty that match referee Andy Pycroft suggested.
