Nitish Kumar Reddy celebrated his first Test half-century in style by performing the traditional “Pushpa” dance during the Boxing Day Test.
In the Boxing Day Test on Saturday, Nitish Kumar Reddy achieved his first half-century in Test cricket with a remarkable knock under duress. He also made care to commemorate the occasion in a special and unforgettable way.
Reddy finally hit the illusive mark after a run of near-fifties, much to the joy of his teammates and supporters. With a spectacular boundary off a wide delivery from Mitchell Starc, the 21-year-old batsman reached his half-century. He instantly celebrated, drawing inspiration from the recently released film “Pushpa: The Rise.”
Reddy mimicked actor Allu Arjun’s well-known gesture by raising his bat over Pushpa Raj’s neck in homage to the movie’s renowned role. Veteran pundit Sunil Gavaskar noticed the maneuver and identified the celebration right away.
With a hint of laughter, Gavaskar cried out, “O… Pushpa,” recognizing the clear allusion to the character’s well-known quote, “Pushpa jhukega nahi,” which means “Pushpa will never bow down!”
