Prior to the two-match Test series against the West Indies, veteran Indian batsman Ajinkya Rahane was reappointed as the team’s Test vice-captain.
Ajinkya Rahane, a veteran Indian batsman who produced an incredible comeback against Australia in the World Test Championship (WTC) final, has been reappointed as the Indian Test vice-captain ahead of the two-match Test series in the West Indies.
Rahane made a comeback of a lifetime during the WTC final against Australia. The experienced middle-order batsman struck 86 and 48 in his maiden Test return in almost a year, keeping his spot and earning a promotion to vice-captaincy in the process. The selectors have stated that Rahane may be given the captaincy if Rohit Sharma decides to end his Test career soon.
The World Test Championship 2023–25 squads for both India and West Indies will be unveiled during the two-match Test series. India will need to win the ODI series in order to step up their preparations for the Cricket World Cup later in the year.
The team for India’s forthcoming two-match Test series and three One-Day Internationals against the West Indies has been chosen by the Men’s Selection Committee. India has five T20 International matches scheduled as well, and the team will be revealed later, according to the BCCI.
