After missing out against Australia, Virat Kohli now joins Ashish Nehra on the T20 World Cup Unwanted List

Virat Kohli’s run in the T20 World Cup 2024 has been miserable, and on Monday, the star batsman for the Indian cricket team was removed for a duck in the Super 8 match against Australia. Kohli misplayed a shot off Josh Hazlewood, and Tim David made an easy catch to end his innings. This was Virat’s second duck of the tournament, following his dismissal for a golden duck in the group stage match against the United States.

The great batsman became the second Indian batter in T20 World Cup history to score two ducks in the same tournament, joining former pacer Ashish Nehra. Nehra had two ducks in the 2010 T20 World Cup.

India defeated Australia by 24 runs to advance to the T20 World Cup 2024 semifinals. India batted first and scored 205/5, thanks to an explosive innings from captain Rohit Sharma. In response, Indian bowlers limited Australia to 181/7 in 20 overs to seal the game.

“Satisfying. We are aware of the opposition and the threat they pose. We did well as a team and continued to do what was necessary. It boosts our confidence as a squad. “200 is a good score, but when you play here with the wind, anything can happen,” India captain Rohit Sharma stated.

“But I believe we adapted to the conditions really effectively, and it was about individuals doing their jobs. It was about taking wickets at the correct time. (On Kuldeep) We know his strength, but we must use him when necessary. In New York, there were seamer-friendly wickets.

“He had to miss out, but we knew he had a significant role to play here.” (In the semi-finals) We don’t want to change anything; we want to play the same manner and understand what each individual is responsible for.”

“Play freely and don’t think too much about what is ahead. Do not think about the adversary. We’ve been doing it regularly; all we need to do now is keep going. (On playing England in the semi-finals) It will be a good contest; nothing will change for us as a team,” he remarked.
