Since the award’s inception in 2018, the 26-year-old playmaker has joined teammate Alexia Putellas as the only female recipient of the Ballon d’Or twice. After accepting the honor, Bonmati remarked, “I am extremely fortunate to be surrounded by players who help me improve every day. This cannot be accomplished alone.”

Bonmati, who was already regarded as one of the greatest women’s players of all time, was Barcelona’s best player as they won a ton of trophies in the 2023–2024 season.
